Math Support for Grades 1–8

Find elementary or middle school math support, starting with your child’s current work and the skills that need attention.

A grade label is a starting point. A student may feel confident with whole numbers and need more time with fractions, or understand a procedure without knowing why it works. Bring the current topic and a recent example to help identify a useful starting point.

Elementary math

Explore support with number sense, place value, arithmetic, fractions, measurement and explaining a solution. The sequence depends on the student’s school and readiness.

For a learner who can calculate 3 × 4 but cannot explain it, a picture of three equal groups of four can connect the multiplication to a concrete idea.

Middle school math

Explore ratios, percentages, signed numbers, expressions, equations, geometry and data. Use the exact class topic to find the right level.

For example, “three notebooks at the same price cost $12” connects 3p = 12 to dividing a total into equal groups. The goal is to explain the step as well as calculate p = $4.

A clearer conversation about support

  1. Start with the work: tell us the grade, class topic and what feels difficult.
  2. Find the missing connection: discuss whether the difficulty is vocabulary, an earlier skill, a procedure or applying it in a new problem.
  3. Agree on a next step: discuss practice, teacher availability and how feedback will help the family understand progress.

Help that fits the child, not just the grade.

Tell us what your child is working on and what you hope will become easier. A question or enquiry does not enrol you in a paid programme.

No contracts. You can discuss 10- or 20-hour packages and combining tutoring subjects. Confirm pricing, package validity and scheduling terms before purchasing.

Already studying a different level?

Some students take a course ahead of or outside a typical grade sequence. Use the course name: Algebra 1, geometry, or browse all math subjects. Ask the school about placement rather than treating a grade label as a complete assessment.
